The topic: Any geologists read this blog?

Hey, if you have some knowledge about rocks, could you go to my family album, stuff section and check out the rock?

There's a QuickTime movie that's a little over a minute long of the sides of the rock.

I'd really like to know what I've got here.

I am no expert on rocks and have some whatzits of my own, but it does look like there is iron pyrite in there. I love the inspector.

I agree with Norah. It looks like iron pyrite or fool's gold.

I enjoyed seeing Benny in the movie!!

P.S. Benny was cute. "Pay attention to me, Ma!" Even added a well placed tail swish for emphasis. Haha

Thanks, guys, I think the answer might be what's known as "Peacock Ore". I was given this link over at the forums and it sure looks similar to what I've got here.

Meteorite. Yeah. Right. I guess we won't be retiring anytime soon. LOL

lisaviolet is fifty something, married with no kids, takes care of lots of cats, likes taking photographs, loves Southern California weather and spends altogether too much time avoiding her responsibilities.
